The Indiana State Fair is just around the corner and the Indiana Horse Racing Commission will once again provide a Speed Barn exhibit during the fair. To assist IHRC, the Indiana Standardbred Association is asking for volunteers to help provide support for the exhibit, which is offered daily during the 17-day event that begins Friday, Aug. 2 and concludes Sunday, Aug. 18.

“Our times have changed a little this year, but the need for volunteers is still great,” said Megan Arszman of the IHRC. “We need volunteers to welcome fairgoers to the barn, talk with them about harness racing and horse racing in Indiana, stand next to the horses that will be on display and handing out any items to fairgoers.”
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. The exhibit will not be open Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Wednesday, Aug. 7 due to Grand Circuit and Indiana Sired Fair Circuit Championships held at the Indiana State Fair.
All volunteers will receive a ticket for entry into the Indiana State Fair. For those interested in assisting, contact Arszman at the IHRC at (317) 232-2897 or by email at marszmanweisbrodt@hrc.in.gov.
