Twilight Hour was the top seller at the Northern Indiana Yearling Speed Sale Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Topeka Livestock Auction facility in Topeka, Ind.

Twilight Hour was the top seller at the Northern Indiana Yearling Speed Sale, purchased by Dan Shetler Jr., who campaigned the filly’s mother Allie Labrook.
Consigned by Dojea Stables, Twilight Hour joins a familiar barn as Dan Shetler Jr. purchased the Swan for All filly for $31,500. The filly is out of Shetler’s former Indiana trotting mare Allie Labrook, who was a standout, winning more than $300,000 and taking a mark of 1:52.0. The Here Comes Herbie mare not only won stakes in Indiana Sires Stakes action, but also ventured outside the state, competing in top events such as the Armbro Flight and Miss Versatility at Mohawk and winning the Muscle Hill Open at Vernon Downs. She has three foals of racing age, and two raced this past week at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Winslow, a full brother to Twilight Hour, was a winner in 1:59.3 while Derringer, another full brother, finished second the following night. Both colts are trained and conditioned by Shetler.
The second highest seller of 88 yearlings cataloged in the Northern Indiana Yearling Speed Sale was Five Carat Rocker, who was knocked down for a price of $19,600. The Rockin Image colt is out of the mare Queen Caroline, who has a mark of 1:52.3 and more than $231,000 in earnings. She has already produced numerous racehorses including Juslikeaqueen (1:51.0, $377,000); Wattaqueen (1:51.1, $144,000), and Rockalina (1:50.1, $45,000). Mark Wright of Frankfort, Ky. purchased the pacing colt.
The third highest priced yearling was purchased by Dr. Alan White, a trotter by Fiftydallarbill. The colt, named Fake Dollar Bill, is out of Fake News Cast out of the dam of Fly Delta, who is currently among the two-year-olds this season for the Doug Rideout barn. The second dam is Celebrity Image with a long line of black type winners, including five with earnings of more than $100,000. This is the second foal from the Current Cast mare.
Overall, 12 yearlings sold for $10,000 or more during the sale that was heavily weighted with trotters. It was also a first look at several first crops, including yearlings by Don’t Letem, Capt Midnight, Lagerfeld, Ontopofthehill, Carlson, and Banderas Hall.
