Every year Harrah’s Hoosier Park takes on a renovation project to better accommodate the horsemen and horsewomen who participate in racing at the Anderson, Ind. track. This year, the focus has been turned on the Backstretch Café building, which houses both the track kitchen as well as public restrooms and showers.

The building is receiving a complete overhaul as the kitchen is being upgraded with new flooring with Centiva vinyl wood-like planks installed by Shane Meyer. In addition to new paint and a new mutuel teller station, the dining room area will receive new counters and counter tops completed by One Way Construction and new wood wraps will be installed on the columns. The actual kitchen will also receive new flooring and paint as well as some equipment upgrades.
The public restrooms were totally gutted when the project started in early 2020. Everything in the area is new, from the flooring to the fixtures. Showers will be equipped with new porcelain tile and new lockers and benches will be included in the remodel. Teena Walden, dormitory supervisor, is assisting with the project.
The Backstretch Café and restrooms are slated to be open for the start of the 2020 racing season at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, which gets underway Friday, March 27 with a first post of 6:30 p.m.
