Starting from post two, Eash had a perfect opportunity to get a seat up front early with Topville Master, and that is just what he did, securing the fourth spot at the start as First N Line and Ricky Macomber Jr., another longshot in the race led the way through the quarter in :28.0 and the half in :59.2.
Topville Master was flushed out heading to the three-quarters and endured a first over journey to the leaders. In the stretch, Topville Master took over and trotted home in :28.1 for his second win of 2023. First N Line finished second while Ten Count and LeWayne Miller filled out the top three, all longshots in the race.
Topville Master paid $30.60 for the win. The trio of horses teamed up together to pay more than $22,000 for the exacta and $20,000 for the trifecta.
Topville Master is owned by Eash’s Eash Racing Stable. Merle Yoder bred the gelding, who went winless in 15 tries last year as a two-year-old. He already has two wins on his card in 2023, just a tick off his career best win of 1:57.3 taken in late April.
Topville Master is one of the latest foals from the Andover Hall mare Miss Tequila. The gelding is a half brother to the standout mare, Topville Martini, who has a mark of 1:55.3 and more than $118,000. The family has a two-year-old filly by You Know You Do this year in 2023.
Topville Master is from the first crop of You Know You Do and was purchased under the name of Topville Masterboy for $22,000 from the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale.
