The count moves to 13 wins on the year for Majestic Player A, the wonder from “down under” that continues his winning ways for his Indiana connections. Trained by Walter Haynes Jr., the six-year-old gelded son of Majestic Son earned his latest win Saturday, Sept. 19 in the $18,000 Open Trot at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.

Driven by Sam Widger, Majestic Player A began his race from post six and used enough early speed to sit behind Lindy the Great and Andy Shetler at the quarter in :27.0. Katkin American and James Yoder were on the move early, pressing the tempo at the half and three-quarters in :55.3 and 1:23.2, respectively.
Heading into the stretch Majestic Player A found the room he needed to advance, trotting home in :28.0 to earn his 14th win of the year in 1:51.4, just a few ticks off his personal best of 1:51.1 set earlier this season at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Katkin American finished one and three-quarter lengths back in second in a close photo over JL Cruze and Trace Tetrick.
Majestic Player A has now earned more than $147,000 total since arriving in the United States. Originally purchased by Brian Carsey of Connersville, Ind., the gelding is now owned by Jeff Fought Racing and Casey Myers. With his stats from Australia, he now has 28 career wins and in excess of $240,000. He has only finished out of the top two once in 16 starts on the year.
The win also maintains a spot atop the standings in North America for most wins on the season for Majestic Player A. He shares the top spot with Bad Ms Johnson and First Gunner with 13 wins apiece.
Earlier in the night, Rockin Nola and Joey Putnam won the co-featured Fillies and Mares Open Pace. The duo came from off the pace to score the win in the final strides in 1:50.3 over Sandy Sue and Trace Tetrick. Up Front Flor Ida and Peter Wrenn finished third.
It was the sixth win of the season for Rockin Nola, who is trained by Joe Putnam and owned by JP Racing LLC and Suttons Bay Racing. The Rockin Image four-year-old is just shy of a half million in earnings and is currently on a three-race win streak.
