Teddy Brosevelt ruled over the conditioned trot at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Poconos Monday, May 2. Driven by Jim Pantaleano, the Indiana sired gelding was a winner by a nose in 1:56.4.

Teddy Brosevelt came roaring up on the outside to score the win in conditioned trot action by a nose in the final stride Monday, May 2.
Starting from post eight, Teddy Brosevelt floated out from behind the gate and moved toward the back of the pack as Chucky De Vie and John Kakaley set the tempo in the front of :28.2, :57.1 and 1:25.4. He got company on the outside at the three-quarter mile marker as Moon Bridge and George Napolitano came rallying up on the outside to challenge.
In the stretch, Matt’s Muscles and Anthony Napolitano moved out from their two-hole spot and took over the top position but Teddy Brosevelt was on the move, rallying home in :29.4 to earn the win by a nose over Matt’s Muscles. Moon Bridge held on for third in the tight four-horse photo.
Teddy Brosevelt was a surprise to bettors, paying $26.60 for the win. The seven-year-old son of Guccio is owned by Royal Sun Farms and trained by Norman Morford. Cornerstone Stock Farm bred the gelding, who earned his first win of the year in 10 starts. Overall, Teddy Brosevelt now has 23 wins in 144 starts with earnings over the $200,000 mark. His career best time of 1:55.1 was taken as a four-year-old at The Meadows. He is a recent purchase by Royal Sun Farms and in three starts for his new connections, he has a win a second and a fourth.
