Trainer Trent Stohler is coming off a stellar season in 2019 with a top 50 finish among North American trainers. His success is already carrying over to the new year as horses from his barn scored two wins on the New Year’s Day racing program at Pompano Park Jan. 1, 2020.

Jazzy Image, a six-year-old Indiana sired daughter of Rockin Image, earned the win in the evening’s featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open. Starting from post two with driver Kevin Wallis, the mare got a two-hole journey for most of the mile before rallying home for the win by one length in a time of 1:52.4. Owned by Trent Stohler Stable Inc., Jazzy Image was bred by Lavon Miller.
The other winner on the night was recorded in the $9,000 Fillies and Mares Open II as Cult Icon roared home in gate to wire fashion for Wally Hennessey. The five-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight stopped the timer in 1:53.4 for the win for Trent Stohler Stable Inc. and Sheralyn Stohler Equine LLC.
Earlier in the card, another Indiana sired horse was a winner as Indian Creek Kyla won the $8,000 5/8 Mile Dash by one-half length in 1:10.4. Trained by Mike Murphy, the five-year-old daughter of Real Desire was driven by Hennessey for Geneva Stewart, Treva Pugsley and Barbara Murphy. Steiner Stock Farm bred the mare. Finishing third in the race was the Rick Plano driven and trained Hypnotic Racer, a daughter of Hypnotic Blue Chip. The four-year-old mare is special to Plano as she was the winner in Plano’s 7,000th career win in November 2019.
