Starting from the center of the track, Rockin Serena rallied out for the lead from the gate but didn’t achieve her goal until after the quarter mile marker in :27.0. From there, the Rockin Image mare maintained her ground, getting a slight breather in the second quarter before turning up the speed to fend off the late closers.
In the stretch, Truth and Liberty came up to challenge, but she held them off for the win. It was the second win in seven starts for the six-year-old mare, who is closing in on $400,000 in career earnings. She is owned by Emerald Highlands Farm, Dolne Farm Services LLC and Wrenn Racing LLC. Daryl D Miller bred the mare, who has 22 career wins. Her quickest time of 1:51.0 was taken last year at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. She was also race timed last year at Hoosier in 1:49.3.
