Walk With Me and trainer-driver Doug Rideout win the first division of three-year-old trotting fillies on the ISFC Tuesday, July 5.
Rideout began with Walk with Me in the first division of three-year-old trotting fillies. He placed the Striking Lindsey filly right on the front, posting fractions of :30.3, 1:02.2 and 1:33.2 before drawing away to a two-length advantage at the wire in 2:03.3. Swan’s Lady and Chad Clark finished second over Fashion’s Way and Jordan Ross for third.
Walk with Me is owned by Matthew Miller and was bred by Karl Miller. It was her fourth win of the season in eight starts. Her career record remains at 2:02 taken last year as a two-year-old at Converse.
In the second division of sophomore trotting fillies, Rideout guided Crescent Beauty to a win in 2:02.4. Starting from the second tier, their quest for the top spot was put on hold until traffic cleared and they were on the outside of Retha Babe and Chad Clark at the quarter in :31.1 before taking over. From there, the Crescent Fashion filly sat handily, moving under the wire with a final quarter in :29.3 for the win by three and one-quarter lengths. Tabsladyone and Mike Peterson finished second over Brookview Cherie and Bradley Ferguson for third.
Crescent Beauty is owned by Julie Rideout and Peter Schmucker Jr., who is also the breeder. It was her fifth win of the year and a new lifetime mark in the event.
Moving to the sophomore colts and geldings, Hand Dover Dan was dominant in his division. Getting away third behind race leader Summit City Sonny and Derek Hooley, Rideout pulled the Dover Dan gelding to the outside after the half and pulled away from the field, winning by seven and three-quarter lengths in 2:00.0, a final panel in :28.1. Summit City Sonny was second over Fashion Sir and Jay Cross.
Hand Dover Dan is owned by Julie Rideout and Gracie Rosson. Bred by Mast Standardbreds, the gelding now has four wins this season and his career mark remains at 1:57.2, taken earlier this year at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.
The final race of the day brought Lonestar Fashion to the winner’s circle for owners Julie Rideout and John Graber. Rideout placed the Crescent Fashion gelding in third behind early leader Swartz Bros Sam (Mike Peterson) and Muscle Dan (Michael Detweiler) through fractions of :31.4 and 1:03.0 before Muscle Dan moved to the outside to challenge. Rideout was about to sweep by all of them in the stretch to win by two and one-half lengths in 2:03.0, a final quarter in :29.2. Swartz Bros Sam was second over Muscle Dan.
