Pond-A-Acres will offer 17 yearlings at the upcoming Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
One colt that will be grabbing a lot of attention will be Hip No. 214, Ponda Hawk. A son of Luck Be Withyou, the colt is the first foal from the super tough mare Mandys Mattjesty, who took a mark of 1:50.2 and made in excess of $300,000 during her career, racing primarily at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Mandys Mattjesty comes from a strong family and is a half sister to Big Gulp, who was undefeated on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit this past year and won the Governor’s Cup Championship for two-year-old pacers.
Pond-A-Acres also has several trotters in their consignment and several by first crop sire Dover Dan. Heading the list of trotting prospects is Ponda Detective, a colt by Dover Dan. Selling as Hip No. 108, the colt is out of a Deweycheatumnhowe mare, Dream Act, with a mark of 1:55.2. She has produced two winners already, including Brigotto, Indiana Sires Stakes winner with a mark of 1:55.3 and more than $140,000 in earnings.
Another Dover Dan yearling in the Pond-A-Acres consignment is a half-brother to Indiana Sires Stakes winner Ooh La La La, who has six figure earnings and a mark of 1:54.2. The colt, Ponda Gonzalez, will sell early as Hip No. 81.
Another Indiana Sires Stakes winner with a sibling in the consignment is Flagman, winner of more than $75,000 and a mark of 1:53.4. The half sister selling is Hip No. 239 Ponda Charm, a daughter of Dover Dan.
Pond-A-Acres rounds out its consignment with a good looking individual by Swan for All in Ponda Adventure, listed as Hip No. 236. The first foal is from a first foal by the Muscle Hill mare Wildflower, who took a mark of 1:55.4 as a two-year-old and won both the Kindergarten Classic final and the Hudson Trot final. The colt is a standout in the consignment for Pond-A-Acres.
