It was a big night for foals of Pinetucky Wednesday, May 10 as they brought home the Daily Double at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Silent Queen, a longshot won the first race followed by race favorite Tucky Girl in the second race, paying $233.20 for the Daily Double.

Silent Queen kicked off the night in the $9,000 Non winners of two trot. The sophomore filly got away sixth for driver Michael Oosting and followed along as La Charger and John DeLong established the tempo of :29.0, :58.2, and 1:28.0. Around the final turn, Silent Queen began to move up and was just two lengths off the leader at the head of the lane.
In the stretch, Silent Queen began to make some noise, trotting up the inside and trotting home in :28.2 for the win by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.0. Youdocabo and Matt Krueger finished second over Dover Dance and Brad Ferguson for third.
Silent Queen paid $60.60 for the win. She is owned by Don Swartzentruber, who is also the breeder. Robert Wagler trains the filly, who earned her first win of 2023. The win was also a new lifetime mark.
In the second race, Tucky Girl and Mike Peterson were tagged favorites of the race and lived up to the billing for the comfortable win in 1:58.0. After getting away in second behind early leader Kate’s Girl and Joey Putnam, Tucky Girl was able to follow along until after the half before moving to the outside to challenge. She took over in the stretch and rallied home to a two-length win over Temple City and Kyle Wilfong. Dontwalkawayrene and Michael Oosting finished third.
Tucky Girl paid $3.40 for the win. The three-year-old filly is owned and bred by Rocking Meadows Stable. Mervin Schmucker trains the filly, who also earned her first win of 2023. Overall, she has five wins and more than $20,000 on her card after racing on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit last season. Her race was also a new career best on her credentials.
