A staple for southern winter training options for more than 100 years, Pinehurst Harness Track is now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 winter training months. The facility, located in Pinehurst, NC offers three tracks and a multitude of barns. Their ad is featured in the October issue of the ISA Magazine as horsemen and horsewomen in Indiana began prepping for the winter.

Pinehurst Harness Track includes a half mile sand/clay track, a five-eighths mile sand/jog track and a one-mile clay track. More than 300 stalls are available to those seeking a little warmer weather and the winter training months conclude with several qualifying and schooling sessions to assist in getting horses ready for their ship north. A total of 10 champions have prepped at Pinehurst, most recently Marion Marauder.
The 111-acre facility also offers paddocks for turn outs, blacksmith shops, and local veterinary services. More than 40 golf courses are nearby, and the facility has easy access to Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Raleigh.
Homer and Jay Hochstetler winter train at Pinehurst and compete on the Indiana circuit. Also, Indiana’s Scott Freeman serves as the track superintendent for the facility.
