The list is out for nominees to fill six positions on the Indiana Standardbred Association board. Ten individuals have submitted their name with hopes of joining the board effective Jan. 1, 2023.
A director will be elected in each division with one from the Northern District, one from the Central District, one from the Southern District, and three from the At-Large District. The only district which is going uncontested is the Northern District where incumbent Emily Dever is running unopposed.
In the Central District, Rhys Helt and Jay Hochstetler are both running. Both are new candidates to the ISA Board.
In the Southern District, Sarah Conrad, the incumbent seeking re-election, is running against John Merkel.
In the At Large category, three positions will be filled from five nominees. Running for the At-Large positions include incumbents Matt Rheinheimer and Doug Rideout seeking reelection. New nominees include Mark P’Pool, Joe Thompson and James Yoder.
Nominations of candidates for director from the ISA Membership may now be accepted. According to bylaws, nominations will be accepted up to 21 days from the release of the list of nominees, which is Aug. 26, 2022. All nominations must also have a petition signed by at least 50 paid members of the ISA. All additional nominations should be submitted to the ISA Office at 311 American Legion Place, Greenfield, IN 46140.
The election for ISA Directors will be held in November, 2022. Ballots will be mailed closer to November after the deadline for additional applications has been met.
ISA Directors are elected for a three-year term. All terms begin Jan. 1 for the election year. Director elections are staggered with five directors elected annually to keep the 15-member board intact for the ISA.
