As the Blooded Horse Sale gets underway in Ohio, several names are popping up in the purchase category with Indiana addresses. Some will be brought back to the Hoosier State as breeding stock, as was the case in the Standardbred Horse Mixed Sale in Harrisburg, Pa. earlier this month. One of the top buyers of the entire sale hails from Indiana as Ola Yoder bought five mares from the White Birch Farm dispersal.

Yoder, retired from the cabinet industry, bought mares from the dispersal for a total of $690,000. The highest priced mare purchased by the Northern Indiana native was Please Beehave, a Muscle Hill mare in foal to Chapter Seven. The mare is a half-sister to world champion Bee A Magician and was purchased for $230,000.
Another big purchase for Yoder was Dragon’s Tale for $200,000. The Dragon Again filly is currently in foal to Captaintreacherous and is the dam of Workin Ona Mystery. Yoder, a new owner in the Standardbred racing industry, mentioned in a recent article in Harness Racing Update that his main goal is to raise and sell high-priced yearlings.
