The Midwest Classic Mixed Sale was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, Ind. A total of 147 hip numbers were included in the lineup with the highest priced horse of the day recorded during the Mixed portion of the sale.
Mystical Power, a mare in foal to Temporal Hanover, was the sale topper at $48,000. The Yankee Glide mare, consigned by Oak Ridge Farm as Hip No. 115, was purchased by Cathy Webb of Goshen, Ind. The trotting mare has a mark of 1:55.3 and is from the Kadabra mare, Tymal Mystique, who was a solid race mare in Ontario. She has two previous foals with the Ohio bred What the Hill yearling this year selling for $30,000 at the Ohio Select Jug Sale and the Dover Dan weanling retained for the yearling sales next fall. She is carrying a foal from the first crop of Temporal Hanover.
The highest priced yearling sold as Hip No. 61. Consigned by Alpine Stables, Hey Blinkin was purchased by Alvin Miller as agent for $24,000. The Tellitlikeitis colt is the third foal from the Roll with Joe mare Gypsy Bellevue with a mark of 1:52.3. She has already produced a winner in Sabonis, a full brother with a mark of 155.1.
A pair of young race mares brought $30,000 each. Somebeachsomefra, a daughter of Somebeachsomewhere with a mark of 1:52.4, was purchased by Ryan Miller from the Winterwood Farm consignment while Stella Rose, the very next Hip No., a daughter of Dover Dan with a mark of 1:54.2 from Summit Pacing Acres, was purchased by Eleven Star Stables.
The sale marked the seventh annual event.
