A total of 172 yearlings have been cataloged for the event and represent numerous stallions in the state, from Swan for All and Guccio on the trotting side to Rockin Image and Always a Virgin on the pacing side, just to name a few.
Looking at a few of the foals, Hoosier Chip, Hip No. 85, has some impressive bloodlines. He is out of the tough race mare Bluebird Tizzy, who took a mark of 1:52.3 and earned in excess of $164,000. A second foal, Hoosier Chip is a son of Hypnotic Blue Chip and is consigned by Melvin Schwartz of Etna Green, Ind.
On the trotting side, the sale starts off with a daughter of Swan for All with a catchy name, Swanda Rhimes. The filly is out of Petticoat Affair, who has a mark of 1:56.4 and earned nearly $300,000 during her career. Swanda Rhimes, Hip No. 7, is a full sister to Swan for Vito, who took a mark this season of 1:56.0 and has nearly $25,000 in earnings. Swanda Rhimes is consigned by Ruddick Stables as an agent from Scipio, Ind.
Another trotter with a famous mother is Hip No. 65 Jesseouttajail. The Hoosier Standardbred Farm gelding, by Jailhouse Jesse, is out of Whybabywhy, an Indiana Sires Stakes champ with a mark of 1:55 and earnings in excess of $485,000. Jesseouttajail is her third foal and he has a half-sister, Whykatiewhy by Mr. Cantab, who won five races this season on the Indiana fair circuit.
Buyers looking for an option late in the sale will see Hip No. 166, Saddle Up, who is from the first crop of JK Endofanera. The colt is out of Musette Mindale, who took a mark of 1:52 and earned nearly $150,000 during her career. She has produced three foals of racing age with two winners, including Rock It Out, who was tough on the Indiana fair circuit last summer. Saddle Up is from the Cornerstone Stock Farm consignment of Shipshewana.
All pedigrees are available through the sale company’s website at michianaclassicsale.com and most of the entries have videos and TrackIt pedigree links attached to their name.
