A total of five Standardbreds competed Sunday, June 4 in the first of two Buckle Series shows set for the Moonsville Conservation Club, located north of Anderson and east of Alexandria, Ind. A total of 284 entries were included in the full afternoon of events at the newly renovated facility.

The Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) sponsored the classes with additional prize money awarded to the top three finishers. Standardbreds involved in the show included Heavenly Beaches, Mshindi, Red Hot Yankee, Nigel Tufnel and Blue Boy Yankee.
Classes ranged from Pee Wee Halter for eight-year-olds and under to both English and Western halter and showmanship classes. There was even a Mule Walk-Trot on the schedule before action heated up with speed classes for poles, barrels and Speed and Action events.
Standardbreds were showcased in a halter class, Walk-Trot, and Horsemanship Walk-Trot. First place was awarded $100 with second place receiving $75 and third place winning $50 in addition to the buckles.
Several Standardbred participants and their families were involved in the show. Individuals participating in the event associated with harness racing included Trace, Sandy, and Chloe Tetrick, Willie, Ami and Cora Schwartz, Riley Harmon, Lexi Sarkine, Kristina Smith, Mariah Wright, Bryce Nickells, and Ross, Rachel and Grace Leonard.
The second show of the Buckle Series is set for Sunday, June 25. A rain date of Sunday, July 9 has been set for a makeup day.
