Shamwow, driven by Brandon Bates, will start from post one while Little Rocket Man, driven by John DeLong, begins from post four in the five-horse lineup. Little Rocket Man makes his 2021 debut. The five-year-old son of Rockin Image comes back to the track off a big season last year, winning half of his starts. In addition to six wins, he also took a new lifetime mark of 1:47.2, equaling the overall track record at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. In all, Little Rocket Man has won 17 of his 29 career starts and earnings inching up to the $300,000 mark. Little Rocket Man is owned by Russ Beeman and Jack Freeman.
Shamwow comes into the qualifier with three starts this season at Miami Valley Raceway. The six-year-old Always a Virgin gelding looks to get back on track in 2021. With nine career wins in 31 career starts, he also has just under the $300,000 mark in earnings. He has scored a career best time of 1:49.4 the past two years. Jeff Fought Racing and David Fought own Shamwow, who was bred by Fought’s Cornerstone Stock Farm.
Several horses from the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit last year are also included in the qualifiers. Townline Jated and Kyle Wilfong start from post one in the second race for trainer Walter Haynes Jr., and Baby Lets Roll from the Joe Putnam barn starts from post one for Joey Putnam in the fifth race. Both horses make their first start of 2021.
