A student of the George Teague Stable, Lather Up comes into Indiana fresh off his win in the Sam McKee Memorial going one and one-eighths miles. The I’m Gorgeous horse, who has already earned in excess of $500,000 this year, is seven for 10 for the Teague Stable, which is best known to local racing fans for their success with Wiggleit Jiggleit. Lather Up starts from post four as the early morning line choice at odds of 6-5 with Montrell Teague at the controls.
Another top contender in the field is Casie Colman’s McWicked from post two. The $4.2 million-dollar earner was third in his last start on Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands to Lather Up. Brian Sears comes in to drive the McArdle stallion who finished third in last year’s Dan Patch Stakes.
The field also includes two Indiana sired horses. Always A Prince from the Tyler George Stable will be driven by Trace Tetrick from post nine at odds of 6-1 and Rockin Ron from the Ron Burke Stable will be driven by Matt Kakaley from post eight at odds of 12-1.
Two special wagers will be offered during the Dan Patch racing program with a $25,000 guaranteed superfectas pool on the Dan Patch Stakes and a $15,000 guaranteed Hoosier High Five pool on the final race. Also, five names will be drawn to place a $100-win wager on the Dan Patch Stakes. Fans can also take advantage of family-friendly activities, winner’s circle giveaways and a free backpack to the first 500 Caesars Rewards guests beginning at 6 p.m. The Dan Patch Stakes will also be featured on WISH TV Channel 8 beginning at 9 p.m.
Dan Patch Weekend activities continue through Saturday, Aug. 10 with Stella Luna and the Satellites providing a free show in the Terrace Showroom after racing on Saturday.
