Swan We Go, a son of Come On We Go, who has a mark of 1:57.1, sold as Hip No. 12 by consigner Perry Coblentz of Mayslick, Ky. The colt is from the family of ABC Mercedes and ABC Bay Bee who earned nearly $1.4 million mainly in Indiana between the two of them for trainer Joe Putnam. The third dam of Swan We Go is Mercedes Kosmos, who is the dam of both standout Indiana sired trotters. Swan We Go brought $11,000 through the ring and was purchased by Pasko Vucinaj of Greenville, Ohio. The colt is eligible in both Indiana and Kentucky for the racing season next year.
Another Indiana sired yearling that sold was Redaire, a chestnut filly from the first crop of Helpisontheway. The filly, consigned by Dublin Valley Farm as agent for Aquilla King, is out of the mare Vallaire, who has seven foals, three of which have earned times of 1:58 or faster, including Santini, who has a mark of 1:56.4 and earnings over $172,000. Redaire was purchased by Lavon Miller of Topeka, Ind. for $4,500.
The Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale auctioneer podium is donned with a plaque honoring the late Dean Beechy. The sign, on the side of the platform, says “Dean Beachy Block” to honor the longtime auctioneer who was a big part of the success of Ohio sales.
