A pair of Indiana sired horses were battling to the wire at Freehold Raceway Friday, Feb. 25 with Sweet Talkin Gypsy getting the nod for the win in the $3,800 conditioned pace. The time of the mile was 2:01.2.

Sweet Talkin Gypsy (inside) and Stand for Freedom (outside) battle to the wire at Freehold Raceway.
Starting from post three, Sweet Talkin Gypsy driven by Troy Beyer had intentions from the starting gate to get to the lead and was parked on the outside at the quarter in :29.4. She was sandwiched between horses seeking the lead as Native Ideal and Jacob Cutting were three wide going by the quarter. Sweet Talkin Gypsy made it to the lead but was taken over by Native Ideal at the half in 1:00.3. Sweet Talkin Gypsy sat patiently through the three-quarters in 1:31.0 and was shuffled slightly as Beaver Creek Misty led the outside charge with Indiana sired Stand for Freedom, a three-year-old daughter of Real Desire, on the outside second over.
In the stretch, Sweet Talkin Gypsy found the room she needed in the passing lane on the inside to advance, and Stand for Freedom, driven by Tyler Miller, found the room she needed on the outside to advance. The two horses split the leaders and went to battle, finishing together at the finish line. In the end, Sweet Talkin Gypsy was a winner by a head over Stand for Freedom. Native Ideal finished third.
Sweet Talkin Gypsy paid $3.20 as the favorite of the field. She is trained by Katie Gangell and owned by Troy Beyer of New Jersey, who just acquired her a month ago. Robin and Danny Roe of Michigan bred the five-year-old Tellitlikeitis mare, who earned her second win in seven starts in 2022. Overall, she has six career wins and more than $36,000 in career earnings. Her best time was taken as a three-year-old at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in 1:54.4.
Sweet Talkin Gypsy is the final foal from Bristol Lake Misty, who has produced eight winners, including Gypsy Leather, who has a mark of 1:51.1 and nearly a half million in earnings. The petite Sweet Talkin Gypsy is from the second crop of Tellitlikeitis and was purchased for $11,000 from the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale. She was only one of 23 sold through the yearling sales that year.
