Sale goers didn’t have to wait long to see the sale topper in the second annual Northern Indiana Yearling Speed Sale Saturday, Sept. 10. Held at the Topeka Livestock Auction, the eighth horse through the ring brought $87,500 to top the sellers at the one-day event.
SJ’s Royals Help, a filly whose sister is the dam of the great stallion Walner, had a lot of attention heading into the ring. The good-looking filly was part of the Double R Farm, serving as agent. Greg Luther of Ohio purchased the Helpisontheway filly, listed as Hip No. 9. She is from the second crop of Helpisontheway, who has had an outstanding showing from his first crop in Indiana in 2022.
Double R Farm also had the second highest seller in the sale. High Frequency, selling as Hip No. 88, brought $20,000 in the ring. Denise Dennis was the winning bidder of the Dover Dan colt, whose third dam has produced such greats as Malabar Man. He is the third foal from the Muscle Massive mare Lovely Jan, who was race timed in 2:02.3. Her two-year-old Swan for All, Duracell, raced this year and won a qualifier in 2:00.
Out of 117 yearlings, 22 sold for a tag of $10,000 or higher.
