Galleys Image started from post one as Dandy’s Mercy and Kyle Wilfong left for the lead from the center of the starting gate. They posted fractions of :27.4 and :57.1, tracked closely by Galleys Image. Heading down the stretch, Galleys Image was able to slip to the inside and get past Dandy’s Mercy in the final strides for the win by three-quarters of a length over Dandy’s Mercy. Real Deal Lindy and Atlee Bender finished third.
Galleys Image paid $12.20 for the win. The freshman daughter of Rockin Image is owned by Rebecca Uppal-Ancora and her mother Casandra Uppal. Patricio Ancora is the trainer of the filly who emerged from the Mast Standardbred consignment last year at the Hoosier Classic Sale, fetching a price of $4,000 through the sales ring.
Galleys Image is now three for eight in her young career. She is now on a three-race win streak, winning the final of the James Earl Jones in her last start prior to her win in the Amneris. Her dam, Galley Wench is an Illinois sired mare who took a mark of 1:52.2 during her career and made just over $86,000. Galleys Image is the third foal.
Ancora is a newer trainer to Indiana. His wife, Rebecca, is the daughter of Casandra and Rick Uppal, who relocated to Indiana from the western part of Canada a few years ago. Rick, an accomplished track announcer, calls the races at most Indiana Sired Fair Circuit stops now. Casandra trains a small stable at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, including the track’s fractional ownership horse through First Turn Stable. Born in Italy, Patricio got his start in racing at Plainridge Racecourse in Massachusetts before eventually relocating to Indiana.
