Swartz bros Emily and Jordan Ross moved first over to challenge and had the lead for a few strides before Flashindachips emerged from her inside spot, rallying home in :29.4 for the win in 1:57.3. Tellittoella finished second over Swartz Bros Emily.
Flashindachips was the second longest shot on the board, paying $56.40 for the win. The Our Lucky Chip three-year-old is a homebred by Jason Miller, who now co-owns the filly with Laura Miller. Jason also trains the filly.
Flashindachips only had three starts as a two-year-old. She was making her fifth start of 2023 when she won her first race Thursday. The filly is the latest starter for the mare Susie’s Lil Rip, a daughter of Whitefish Falls who passed her grey coat onto her daughter. She is also the mother of Ella Rose, an I Scoot Hanover mare with a mark of 1:50.4 and more than $220,000. Ella Rose is now a brood mare and has two foals of racing age, including a two-year-old this season who has already won a qualifier in 2:00.4. Susie’s Lil Rip had a two-year-old filly this season by Our Lucky Chip named Flashingmytips. The mare is a near 100 percent producer with five starters in six foals, not including her two-year-old this season.
