Electrocuted waited for the perfect time to attack and brought home a win for her connections in the conditioned pace Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Monticello Raceway. The Indiana sired mare was a winner in 1:57.4.

Electrocuted and Jim Taggert Jr. head to the winner’s circle after their upset win Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Monticello Raceway.
Starting from post two, Electrocuted was able to get good positioning early with race favorite Wiggle My Cookie and Jim Devaux sprinting to the front from the center of the track. However, the favorite was met with opposition as Beach Passage and Ralph Silvestri III would not allow Wiggle My Cookie to move to the lead, leaving the mare parked through the quarter in :28.2, half in :57.1 and three-quarters in 1:27.1.
As Wiggle My Cookie began to tire, horses moved three wide to get into contention. The entire way, Electrocuted never left the helmet of Silvestri and although the mare gets a little rough in the turns, she had an explosive move as soon as the passing lane opened up.
Electrocuted shot to the lead on the inside while Unbroken Circle and Michael Merton moved with authority on the outside of Beach Passage. In the end, Electrocuted got the win by a neck over Unbroken Circle. Beach Passage finished third.
Electrocuted paid $22.20 for the win. Guided by Jim Taggart Jr., the five-year-old daughter of Riggins is owned by Brenda Messenger and Scott Woogen. Gary Messenger trains the mare, who was bred by Jason Graber.
It was the first win of 2023 for Electrocuted in her second start of the season. The mare now has 12 career wins with more than $67,000 in earnings. Her career best time of 1:56.2 was taken as a three-year-old at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Her racing career began as a two-year-old on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit under the direction of Don Eash. The Riggins daughter was sold along with Eash’s annual dispersal sale at the end of her three-year-old campaign and relocated to upstate New York. She has been with the Messenger Stable since being purchased from Eash at the Blooded Horse Sale.
Electrocuted is the first foal from the tough race mare Ahlbback Yankee, who took a mark of 1:50.3 and made more than $230,000 during her career. She has had two other foals, a four-year-old mare named Luck Be Withyou named Sierra Sundance, and a three-year-old named Big Time Romance by Always A Virgin. Neither one has raced to date.
