It started at the end of Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s 2023 meet and it has now extended into mid-February. Dover in Motion, driven by John DeLong, have now won eight straight races, adding their latest victory from the $34,000 Open Handicap at Miami Valley where the standout Indiana trotter was assigned post eight.
The outside post did not slow Dover in Motion down. He got away in mid pack but could not find a seat along the inside so he bided his time in the outer flow through fractions of :28.1 and :57.2 set by Flemsteen and Tyler Smith. As the field reached the three-quarter mile marker, Dover in Motion had moved up slowly on the outside and had flushed cover after the half to help guide him to the stretch.
In the stretch, Dover in Motion went out and went to work, trotting home in :27.4 to score the win by one length in 1:53.3. Flemsteen held on for second inside with fellow Indiana trotter Adamsville Road and Luke Hanners finishing third.
Dover in Motion, the heavy favorite, paid $2.40 for the win. The five-year-old son of Dover Dan is trained by Jamie Macomber and owned by M & M Racing and Macomber Racing. Lyle Slabach bred the gelding, who now has 19 career wins. His career earnings are approaching $600,000 with his career best time taken last year in December at Dayton in 1:52.1.
