Starting from post two, Donttellmenow got away fourth for driver LeWayne Miller as So Into You and Atlee Bender moved out to the lead from the center of the track. After the quarter in :27.3, So Into You was joined by Donttellmenow on the front end at the half in :57.0 before he cleared to the lead heading into the final turn. From there, Donttellmenow was strong. The colt paced home in :27.4 and held off a late push by So Into You for the win by one-half length. Skyway Houdini and Ricky Macomber Jr. finished third.
Donttellmenow paid $6.20 for the win. The Tellitlikeitis colt is owned by Zach and Dessa Miller along with Ed Olwine and Who Dey Racing Stable. The colt was bred by David Yoder and Daryl Lehman.
Donttellmenow was making his fifth career start in his maiden breaking voyage. He was one of 60 foals sold at public auction last year as a yearling by Tellitlikeitis. He was purchased by his connections for $12,000 at the Midwest Mixed Sale at the Michiana Event Center. He is the last foal from the Allamerican Native mare American Ginger, who is a 100 percent producer Donttellmenow is now her quickest foal.
Earlier in the night, another fast foal picked up a win in the $9,000 Indiana Sires Stakes eligible event for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings. The Rocketeer and Joey Putnam moved to the lead at the half and paced all the way to the wire as a winner in 1:53.3, a final quarter in :27.4. Lucky Benny and LeWayne Miller finished one and three-quarter lengths back in second over ER Rambo and Don Eash for third.
The Rocketeer paid $5.20 for the win. The Rockin Image gelding is owned and trained by Britney Dillon of Michigan. Newfound Stables and Frontier Farms bred the freshman, who was making his fifth start. The mile was his first trip to the winner’s circle.
The Rocketeer is following in the footsteps of his older sister, Sleazy Rolls, who has a mark of 1:5.2 and nearly $150,000 on her card. The family has a yearling colt by Rockin Image named Frontier Lady Rita, who should be available in the sales this fall.
