Jeff Cullipher, longtime horsemen in the state of Indiana, is completing the best year of his career thus far. The Kentucky native will end the 2022 racing season in sixth place on the national list of trainers by wins.

Horses from the Cullipher barn have amassed 248 wins with two days left in the year. This total surpasses Cullipher’s best year to date, which was last year when he won 240 races. Cullipher also scored a personal best for money earned this season with more than $4.5 million. Overall, the trainer who has several titles to his credit at Harrah’s Hoosier Park maintained a training percentage of .274 with more than 1,684 starts on the year, which is 100 more starts than in 2021.
Indiana’s top trainer in 2023 is also ranked nationally. Tyler George will end the year in 12th place on the list of leading trainers by wins for the year. Horses conditioned by George won 180 races from 540 starts good for more than $2.3 million in earnings and a training percentage of .451.
Ron Burke, who also campaigns a string of horses in Indiana, is the top trainer in North America with 1,022 wins from 4,665 starts. Horses from his barn have earned more than $22 million this year and maintained an average of .349. The next trainer on the list of leading trainers is Richard Moreau with 328 wins followed by Erv Miller with 291 wins. Miller also had a very successful year in Indiana this season and had several of the state’s top two and three-year-olds in the Indiana Sires Stakes series.
