Brookview Charm, a daughter of Swan for All, was the sale topper at the Michiana Classic Yearling Sale Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, Ind. The filly fetched a price of $35,000 through the sales ring as the sale’s top seller.

Consigned by Brookview Farms of Shipshewana, Brookview Charm is only the second living foal from the Credit Winner dam Disbelief. The third dam is the superstar mare Beat the Wheel, who took a mark of 1:51.4 in 1994 and won over $300,000 while racing on the Grand Circuit. She has produced several top performers, including Beatgoeson Hanover, who took a mark of 1:51.4 and earned in excess of $1.1 million.
Nathan Yoder of Odon, Ind. was the winning bidder of Brookview Charm.
The second highest seller of the sale was a $30,000 purchase by Brian Schofner of Porter Texas, who acquired the Dover Dan filly Mom Checked Out. The filly was consigned by Black Creek Farm as agent and is the first foal from Czech It Out, by Explosive Matter, who took a mark of 1:56.1 and earned more than $178,000. The third dam is the mare Missy Hadagal, who is the dam of Breeder Crown champ Lassies Goal, who was campaigned by the O’Maras and earned nearly $600,000 in her career.
Overall, the fourth annual Michiana Classic Yearling Sale followed the trend in North America showing a 2.2 percent decrease in 2020 compared to the 2019 sale. With 165 yearlings going through the sale, the average was $7,383 and the sale grossed more than $1.2 million.
The sale offered ProxiBid this season with online bidding options for those who could not attend. The sale also provided video kiosks for yearling videos and the sale was offered through live streaming through the sale company’s website.
