The 29th season of Standardbred racing gets underway Friday, March 25 with an action-packed opening weekend celebration at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. With a theme of “It’s All on the Line” in 2022, a total of 13 races are slated for opening night featuring five separate claiming series along with a $22,000 Open Pace.
Opening night will offer racing fans a plethora of activities, including a $100 Mystery Voucher Giveaway, a free Harrah’s Hoosier Park Water Bottle giveaway, and a complimentary 2022 racing poster. The evening will also include Bet Against the Boss on Races 3 – 8 with a prize of $250. At the conclusion of each month, a $500 race wager will be drawn from those who participate.
On the betting side of things, the USTA Strategic Wagering is back kicking off opening night with a $15,000 guaranteed Hoosier High Five in Race 13.
Saturday’s activities include a $100 Mystery Voucher giveaway and the $500 Bet Against the Boss drawing from those who “beat” the boss on Friday will be held. Every Saturday will also feature Superfecta Saturday where patrons can enter at a kiosk for a superfecta eligible wager on any of the races. The exact order of finish pays $100 while a box pays $50.
Caesars Rewards is also available to all guests 21 years of age or older. The membership is free, and perks are available to those who sign up. Two times reward credits are offered on all wagers made on Harrah’s Hoosier Park or Horseshoe Indianapolis races.
Each racing night in 2022 will offer contests. Tuesday will be Lucky Ticket Tuesday with a wager on any live Harrah’s Hoosier Park may be eligible for an instant win of prizes. Wednesday will be Golden Longshot Wednesday. Following the third race, one guest will be drawn to select a horse on the remainder of the life racing program at odds of 8-1 or greater on the morning line for a chance to win at least $100. Any unearned prizes carry to the following week. All drawing winners will be entered to win an additional $500 at the conclusion of the meet. Finally, Thursdays will be dedicated to Ace of Races Thursdays, with win wagers submitted for races 3 – 8 for a chance to win $250. The last Saturday of the month, a drawing will be held between all individuals who had a bankroll higher than the boss for a $500 race wager.
Road to the Derby Challenge also continues during simulcast wagering. The event extends through April 16 with $3,500 total in race wagers offered with $2,000 to the top handicapper. Also, those who participate in all eight weeks of the contest get 2,000 Caesars Rewards credits. There are four weeks left in the contest.
