It was all over but the final time for J-S Jasper by the three-quarter mile marker in two-year-old colt and gelding trotting action Friday, July 5 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Frankfort, Ind. The freshman son of Big Stick Lindy distanced himself from the field and kept on rolling, stopping the timer in 2:01.3 to set a new track record for two-year-old trotters at the track.

Trained by Jack Myers and driven by Alex Udell, J-S Jasper rolled to the top and was leading the field by 12 before the first quarter in :31.3. He kept up the tempo through the half in 1:02.0 and 1:32.3 before trotting home in :29.0 to earn the win by 37 and one-quarter lengths. Justdoitforus and Robert Wyman finished second over Mr Wildman and Matthew Avenatti for third.
J-S Japer was purchased out of the Michiana Classic Yearling Sale last fall for $5,200. He was bred by Ben Wittmer of Woodburn, Ind. Wittmer has a two-year-old half brother to J-S Jasper by Mr Web Page that is a yearling this year.
J-S Jasper, owned by Jack Myers Racing Stable, is a perfect four for four this season and is joined by a talented group of trotting freshmen for the Myers-Udell team. He was one of four winners for Udell and one of three for Myers, joining stablemates J-S Miss Carly and J-S Ivan the Great, who were both winners in the two-year-old trotting filly and colt ranks, respectively. Both J-S Miss Carly and J-S Ivan the Great are undefeated in four starts for 2019.
The overall trotting track record for all ages at the Clinton County Fairgrounds is 2:00.0. The mark was set in 2016 by Mr Yankee Garland and driver Jay Cross for trainer Tim Gilliland and owner Nat Hill IV of Bloomington, Ind.
