The Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) has assisted many people involved in and around harness racing for years with higher education. The ISA College Assistance program is available twice a year and the deadline for the 2022 Spring semester assistance is quickly approaching.

The ISA is offering College Assistance for those attending a college, university or trade school. Spring applications are due by Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.
Applications for assistance for the 2022 spring term are due to the ISA Office or postmarked by Friday, Dec. 31, 2021. The applications are available online through the ISA Website at www.indianaharness.com.
Applicants for the College Assistance program must be a 2021 member of the ISA or have a parent or grandparent who is licensed, both by the ISA and by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Applicants must also be an Indiana resident as of April 30, 2021 and working toward a two-year associate’s degree, a four-year bachelor’s degree, or a technical trade school. The applicant may be full or part time students and hold at least a 2.5 grade point average.
All applications will be evaluated by the ISA Scholarship Committee. In addition to the application, proof of 2022 spring registration at the college or university or trade school must be provided along with a letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor and a Standardbred affiliate, other than an immediate family member. Finally, a one-page essay on “What are your education goals and how to you plan to apply your education in the horse racing industry in Indiana upon graduation” is required.
