F. M. TedMontgomery dies Monday, March 25 at the age of 96. Mr. Montgomery was a long time harness racing judge for many county fairs in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. He also owned and operated a track in Montpelier, Indiana for matinee racing for many years and owned standardbreds himself.

 

Mr. Montgomery was instrumental in the formation of the Jayland Trotting Association in Portland, IN. He served as President of the Association for many years. This organization still conducts harness racing at the Jay County Fair Grounds.

 

He was Portland’s mayor from 1963-1967, was an insurance agent, a basketball official, and announcer for Jay County basketball on WPGW radio.

 

He is survived by one son and two daughters, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held  Friday, March 29 at 10:00 am at the Baird- Freeman Funeral Home in Portland.  Memorials may be made to the Jayland Trotting Association or Zion Lutheran Church. Purse: Nomination Fee matched plus $5,000 per event by Indiana Breed Development, Entry Fee, and any other funds if available.

Location of Series: Thursday, August 29th, 2013 at the Indiana State Fair Grounds (11:00 am post) (Rain Out Date Friday, August 30th, 2013)

All owners of nominated horse(s) must be PAID ISA Members by April 15, 2013

Your ISA Board of Directors has entered into an agreement with Gmail by Google to provide membership text messaging services. The agreement will allow text messages to be sent to member's cell phones. For example, if a race or races are cancelled or delayed, this information would be immediately texted to a member's cell phone. The service will only be used for important information that the Board feels the members need to know immediately. The ISA Office Staff will be the only persons who can initiate texts.
 
In order to be included, a member must opt-in. Cell phone numbers will be given to the provider and will NOT be shared with any other business or individual, and will be kept in strict confidence. Members who do opt-in may opt-out at any time. Standard text message rates will apply.
 
If you wish to opt-in to this service, please do so by completing the Text Messaging Agreement form and return to the ISA Office either by mail or fax. You can also give the completed form to your Horsemen's Representative at the race track. If you opt-in and later wish to opt-out, you must also inform the ISA Office in writing.
